10 Ways To Relieve Heel Pain Naturally

Heel pain can be disturbing and can stop you from performing some activities. Research shows this pain can be caused by injuries, fractures, pinched nerves, sprains, being overweight, or wearing bad shoes. It can also be caused by plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, bursitis, fibromyalgia, gout, heel spurs, arthritis and heel spurs.
Well, unless your heel pain is severe, you can use home remedies to treat it. Here are 10 ways you can naturally treat heel pain.
1. Soak heel in Epsom salt
Soaking the heel in Epsom salt will reduce swelling and pain. Add 3 tablespoons of Epsom salt in warm water and soak the heel for 20 minutes. Then dry the foot and massage it for 5 minutes.
2. Ice the heel
Regularly applying ice on the heel will relieve the pain. Apply the ice for 15 minutes several times a day.
3. Use turmeric
Turmeric can relieve pain because of its strong anti-inflammatory properties. You can cook with it, add it in smoothies, or make turmeric tea.
4. Do some stretches
Stretching will loosen and strengthen tendons and muscles thus preventing pain. Stand two steps away from the wall, bring one foot forward then lean forward and place both hands on the wall while keeping the rear foot straight. You should feel the calf and ankle of the rear foot stretch. Now, switch legs and repeat the movement
5. Massage the heel
Massage will relax the muscles and improve circulation around the heel. Apply oil on the source of pain and gently rub it for 10 minutes.
6. Try fish oil
Fish oil is rich in omega 3s and eicosapentaenoic acid which help reduce pain and muscle stiffness. This study found that omega 3s are as effect as nonsteroidal, a drug used to treat arthritis pain.
7. Use apple cider vinegar
ACV can reduce pain because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Tie the source of pain with a towel soaked in ACV mixed with warm water for 20 minutes each day.
Ginger can relieve heel pain, use it to cook or make ginger tea.
9. Switch to alkaline diet
